VPS vs VDS: the difference is steal time

“VPS” and “VDS” are marketing words for two scheduling models. Everything else — disk, network, panel — is usually identical.
VPS: fair-share scheduling
Your vCores are time-sliced against other tenants with a fair-share scheduler. For 90% of workloads you will never notice. Under sustained load at the same time as a noisy neighbour, you will.
VDS: pinned cores
Physical cores are assigned to your instance alone. No stealing, no ballooning, flat latency graphs. It costs more because the host cannot resell that capacity.
How to choose
Web apps, bots, panels and small game servers: VPS. Databases under constant load, CI fleets, 200+ player networks, anything where a 40 ms stall is visible to users: VDS.
